1996 Honda Accord VTEC

- Automatic Transmission
- 2.2l 4 cylinder SOHC VTEC
- Dark Metallic Gray, newly repainted just this November '08 @ Pulido Paint Shop.

Modifications:
- Philips Crystal Vision HB4
- All Weather Bulbs HB3 for the
- FIAMM Horn.
- Pioneer DEH-3350
- Pioneer 6x9 speakers at the back
- 16" Racing Hart Katana with 205/50/16 tires

I had this ride of mine just this October. This car used to be my uncle's steed everyday. My first impression on this car was that it really was an executive's car. 13 years and running this car can still run up 200kph. Although i haven't tested it yet. It really has a powerful engine but on the negative side it really consumes a bit more gas than compared to my other ride.

Suspension
The front and back control arms,bushings had to be replaced. The shocks were still intact.

Aircon
As of now I don't have any problems with the aircon. Its still cold as ice even if you put the settings at 1. But during mid day I put the AC settings on 2 but seldom 3. I think scheduling for a proper maintenance next year should just be all right to reduce larger costs in the long run.

Engine
I had no problems with the 2.2l VTEC engine since. I just replaced parts for the usually maintenance: Oil Filters, Fuel Filters, Air Filters, Fully Synthetic Oil, Brake Fluid, ATF.


Brakes
No problem. Just replaced the brake pads with Bendix. Brakes needed a lot of cleaning...

Interior
If ever i have the time i think I'll bring my ride to leder interia or seatmate to fix the two front seats. After 12 years of daily commute I guess its about time to replace the old ones with new ones. My comment on seats at first was that these seats were like sofa installed in a car. One can really feel luxury and relaxation when you sit down inside the car.

Exterior
My impression on the paint when i got the car was it had its share of paint jobs by different persons. One part of the car did not match the rest of the color of the car. The roof of the car had "masilya" blotches all over the roof. My headlights also needed cleaning. FYI, I really like the euro designs. Even though its still JDM i still stick with what i like to do with my car... I installed European plates with the corresponding plate garnishes at the front and rear.

Its original color is aubergine, its just a classy name for purple or "talong" I finally decided to change the color of the car to dark metallic gray.

Currently being repainted here at my own shop here in Algon - Pulido Paint Shop.
We also used Anzahl urethane paint for the whole body of my Accord. Finishing it off with 3M detailing products.

1995 BMW 316i

- Manual Transmission
- 1.6l 8v 4 cylinders M43 engine.
- Alpine White, newly repainted just this August '08 @ Algon Autowerks.

Modifications:
- European Headlights (projector) came from an e36 M3.
- HID bulbs 8000k (H1)
- All Weather Bulbs (Xenon)H1 for the fog lights.
- Stebel Italy Air Horn.
- Leather Seatcovers - German Leather
- Pioneer DEH-6950IB
- Sony Explode Subwoofer with built in amplifier.
- Kicker seperates at front
- JBL 6x at the back
- 17" Breyton Flame Replicas with 215/17/45 Federal Tires.
- Power Flow Mufflers with Euro Tip.

I had this ride of mine since 2003. This is my very first German car. The very first things that i had to fix with this car was the suspension.

Suspension
The front and back control arms, tie rods and bushings had to be replaced. Of course, all of the shocks were shot. Replaced the shocks with bilsteins at the front and Excel-G shocks at the back.

Aircon
Aircon was also a bust. This car was obviously not in the right country. Why? the a/c was only whispering its air at speed 2. I went right away to repair this problem by replacing the microfilter which was very heady due to contaminants. The compresor, evaporator and etc all had to be replaced.

Engine
I had no problems with this M43 engine since. I just replaced parts for the usually maintenance: Oil Filters, Fuel Filters, Air Filters, Fully Synthetic Oil, Brake Fluid, ATF, etc... Fan Belts and bearings also had to be replaced.

Electrical
I usually experience electrical problems when I do not use my car for several days. This car seems to unhappy when not used all the time. Sometimes door actuators don't work properly. I had to buy new euro headlights due to the old headlights were broken. Not accident broken but disabled due to wear and tear. Sometimes the bright switch stucks when I leave it for several minutes. But with the new headlights everythings ok.

Brakes
No problem. Just replaced the brake pads. Brakes needed a lot of cleaning...

Interior
This is where most european cars have problems... The interior roof lining usually sags. The leather cover for the steering wheel cracks. The rear view mirror dropped like a hot pancake. I fixed this problem by using epoxy to seal the deal. I plan to bring the car at leder interia this year but Im having a hard time in scheduling my trip there.

I don't plan to buy any new car soon. I contented with what i have right now. Restoring and maintaining this car has brought joy and fulfillment to me. Words can not explain to see a basic car groomed into something what I have been longing for all these years. Come to think of it, I was the person looking outside the window of my japanese car since I was in college. i was gazing through the window to see these wonderful european masterpieces. I guess through hard work and determination i can say that i finally achieved something that work really hard for. After all the problems that i have labored with this car I truly can not say that i am finished. I am aware everything is not forever. But as of now, I can say that BMW really guided me to be focused and determined. Quality has always been an issue for me since I have been a BMW aficionado. Even though my car is 13 years old and counting... i can still rely on my sturdy steed to do my daily tasks while giving me the prestige that I am in the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Dogs at Algon

My passion for dogs started when I was 2nd year college I brought a dog with my Australian cousins at Cartimar, Pasay. It was December 0f '99. So I decided to call my first dog "milenyo" That dog which I purchased was a dachshund, a small but long toydog with a sharp snout and waggly little tail. This was the first of my dogs to come. But from that time, I really didn't pay attention to that dog since i got married and settled here at Cabuyao, Laguna.

Since I moved here at Laguna, I was driving along the highway going to Cavinti, Laguna. As I passed by the a big kennel, I saw so many dogs that made think I can also do what they are doing. So I brought 2 dogs from them, a yellow labrador and a red rust doberman both of them females. I have a cousin who from that time was getting ready to migrate to Canada, he asked me if I can take care of his wonderful dogs. I didn't hesitate to answer yes, because I knew this was my chance to have my dreams dogs: Golden Retriever, Rotweilers, English Bulldog, etc.....

Currently, I have the following dogs here in my kennel:
- Pugs
I have a male and a female ready to breed.

- English Bulldog
I have a female but with some skin problems. But for me she's still cute and macho at the same time. This is my favorite breed.

- Golden Retriever
I have a male ready for stud service. Very proven.

- American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull)
I have a female ready to breed. A very powerful dog.

- American Bulldog


- Doberman
I have a very handsome doberman for stud service, also very proven.

Although I can say that this is not a very profitable way to make money. Why? Because i do not want to compromise the health and quality of the dogs that I produce here at Algon. For the past few months, rising costs of dog foods, dog shampoos, medicines, etc...made me feel the pain in my pockets. So I decided to divert my attention to Toy Dogs, which are more expensive but easier to maintain. Maintaining these kind of dogs are hard for me, financially and physically. But the rewards of owning them are a gem. It also gives me the satisfaction to see them grow old with me...... I treat them also as a part of my family. If you know anyone who would like to enter this kind of hobby it will be best if he/she research a lot about a breed before buying or getting one. There are many books about these breeds which can be bought at bookstores or you can also search the net.... By the way, their are different dog breeds that would suit the lifestyle of different dog owners. For example, apartment dwellers should have a toydog instead of a large dog because of the living space. A large dog would suit in well in large places such as compounds and plants / factories...

To end this, I would gladly help out people who would like to have dogs as their pets.... I'm willing to give advice on proper dog health care. As this will also help others in understanding that dogs really are a man's best friend.

Flowerhorns at Algon

I have been living here at Cabuyao, Laguna for about 4 years now. In my 4 years stay here at Cabuyao I have wondered what I can do in this quaint little town which now call my home. During one of my daily drives around town i saw a small pet shop along the highway. This shop owner was very kind to me to discuss on different hobbies that i may partake. But then i was very doubtful due to financial difficulties, and that time then i was very confused on what hobby I really wanted. At first, I researched the net for me to understand the basics on what I am getting into. Then I went to different shops, like in malls at Alabang, Cartimar at Pasay and some specialty petshops... There i found out during 2004 that i wanted to start my hobby taking care of "Flowerhorns". It started with one aquarium then two and now i have 8 aquariums. I started with breeds that were easy to take care for. At first, I thought that when you start a hobby all things will follow. But that was not the case, feeding, cleaning of aquariums, water temperature, medicines, filter systems, vitamins, different kinds of breeds were all new to me. I felt like i was again in school, new knowledge came to me like a burst of fireball. When I first saw the Flowerhorns I was attracted by its head, I have never seen a fish with a head as big as a tennis ball. It had Chinese markings on the side and with fantastic colors one can only imagine. Having a Flowerhorn for me gives me satisfaction that mere words cannot explain. An through the years it has been by companion during time when i need to relax, reflect and ponder what I should do with my life....

I would like to share my experiences in Flowhorn care:

1. Feeding - I give at least 5-8 pellets per feeding in the morning / evening. Sometimes i give a piece or two of superworms.

2. Cleaning of Aquariums - I clean my aquariums every week and with that the usual water change level 60%-80%. I found out that if you change all the water in the aquarium it would be like taking out all the furniture and habitat of the fish. So, before I finish cleaning each aquarium I put 1 tablespoon of rocksalt per gallon. Also, if needed i put a bit of malachite green or methelyne blue to add protection for my fishes.

3. Water temperature - I installed in some of my aquariums 100 watts heater to regulate the water temperature. Proper temperature for me is 28-31 degrees depending on the weather.

4. Medicines - It was my first time to come across with fresh water diseases such as popeye diease, ich, rotting tail, etc.... At first i thought, that this things happened because of my lack of attention to detail. But i found out that these flowerhorns also need medical attention like other pets do. Until now, I still research on what medications I should use to treat each disease.

5. Filter Systems - There are so many different ways to filter your aquarium, i tried the overhead method. It suits me well due to practical reasons. Its easy to clean and very effective in filtering all the unwanted elements in the aquarium.

6. Vitamins - Vitamins? that was my question when i started this hobby out. Do flowerhorns need vitamins, Well, of course they do. But for me it would be very beneficial if one installs drift wood and corals to add proper acidity and ph level of the fish to enhance the "KOK" or head. There are vitamin drops which can be brought at pet stores.

7. Different kinds of breeds - Flowerhorns are also like people, we are all Filipinos but we have different regions like the Tagalogs, Visayans, Warays, illongos, etc. In the flowerhorn world, there are the jin huas, kamfas, zen zhou, etc. Not all flowerhorn breeds bear all the qualities want in a fish. It is up to you what kind of flowerhorn you want. I prefer kamfas, because I like my flowerhorns to be big with also big heads. Colors for me are ok. But the "kok" for me is what i endear the most.

For about 4 years now, I have taken care of these fishes. It has been a joy for me to see them grow under my care. I have learned in order for one to understand a hobby research is the key to success. Do not be afraid to fail, because you will not know how it feels to succeed.
