2008 Mitsubishi Strada 4x4

2008 Mitsubishi Strada 4x4

My experience with the Mitsubishi Strada first started out when I was looking for a second hand pick up. I first came upon a 1995 Mitsubishi Strada model, it was color red and had a very boxy body. When I first started to drive it power was adequate but the ride was harsh especially after I go over a hump. And of course there were quality issues of the said unit... I was skeptical at first in buying that Mitsubishi Strada, so I opted for a 1996 Toyota Hilux 2.8 4x4 instead. Why? The Toyota Hilux during its day was a very durable and powerful pick up. Nevermind, the back aching ride due to the front and rear leaf spring suspension. As long as I was seen in this pick up everyhting is a-ok with me. I always thought that the suspension of the hilux would last longer than the other parts of the car.

Back to the topic, after a decade of full service my Toyota Hilux I finally went to my uncle. After that sale I went to the nearby dealers and I canvassed a replacement for my pickup. After going through the usual suspects, I finally decided to buy the 2008 Mitsubishi Strada. First and foremost the affordability was the main issue. Second was the quality and build of the pick up. I wanted a pick up that was comfortable and durable at the same time. My first impression on the pickup was it had a very good ride despite it being a pickup and all. During my "binata" days I had a notion that all pick up had a very bad ride due to its leafspring suspensions. Since I bought the Strada everything changed. My first trip to Baguio was a very exciting roadtrip. I got to test drive the abilities of the strada, In NLEX / SCTEX 170 kph was a breeze for the crdi 4d56 engine. Power punched its way when I was at Marcos Hiway, it never wheezed like an old man having a asthma attack. The Strada remained its composure during the whole trip to Baguio. Going downhill wasn't a problem ABS and massive torque helped me in going down the steep mountains of the Benguet Province. When we loaded the bed of the Strada the ride tremendously changed from good to great. I can compare the ride of the Strada to our old Ford Explorer Sport Trac. It also has some qualities that are the same like the sliding rear window and easy to open tailgate.

All in all, the Strada is a good buy for practical people out there who want a dependable but stylish pick up for everyday use. I myself will use this truck until Mitusbishi makes them till the end of time...
